Week 11
Welcome to our weekly devlog :)
This week is the start of the polish sprint which only lasts 2 weeks, next week will be our last devlog!
So no more new features, just improving the game that we already have.
UI player feedback:
We added some feedback in the UI when things happen. When a player feeds the boss they get a meat icon and it gets a little scale animation the moment they feed him. The timer also turns red the last minute of the game so the players hopefully feel some pressure to finish the game.
Sounds that have been added:
- Berry eating sound
- Boulder smash sound
- Meat cooking sound
- player stunned sound
New/improved interactions
The meat x dung interaction has been improved and now you can poison a piece of meat whenever you want, if its on the ground, on a fireplace, in a players hand, everywhere. Meaning that there are less restrictions to poisoning meat now :)
The meat despawning feature has been improved as well. Meat now only despawns if it is in a useless state and it has been laying on the ground for over 7 seconds. Meaning that meat will no longer despawn whilst in someone's hand.
Players loading in / playercount
A player loading in phase has now been added at the start of the game. In this phase the game is paused. The players that want to play can press 'Y' on their controller. If they do so, they get spawned in the level. Meaning that you can choose with how many players to play now. The UI has been set up so it only shows the UI for the players that are playing. When all the players that want to play have been loaded in, one of the players presses 'start' to start the game.
Billboards:
billboards have been added for items on the ground & for cooked meat on the fireplace
Stone axe:
The swing is now faster and only stuns from a certain point till another certain point within the animation to make it look more accurate.
This makes stunning other players easier.
Environment:
we did some changes on the placement of the decals, now it is more clear were to go by following the painting on the rocks, for example, the "kill chicken"painting is now on the ground, sometimes chickens even walk on it, the meat painting for the boss are surrounding the boss.
we also fixed the slope collision. we got some feedback from an other student and he told us it was not clear were to get the tools.
to solve this we placed a sand decal underneath and made the slope more going in the direction of the tool.
Animations:
we had some issues with the animation for using the tool because i looked like the player was using the other hand.
Textures:
The chicken has a more red-ish color than before with less color variation, also added some roughness to the material.
